African Union Applauds ICC Prosecutor’s Arrest Warrant Application for Israeli PM and Hamas Leaders Over Gaza Attacks

The African Union Commission has expressed strong support for the ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan’s application for arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other key figures involved in the Gaza conflict.

Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, has welcomed the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor’s move to seek arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and three Hamas leaders. In a statement during an interview with Doha News, Mahamat criticized the delay in seeking justice, asserting that such actions should have been taken earlier.

“Arrest warrants against those responsible for the Gaza war should have been issued from the beginning,” Mahamat remarked. He described the ICC’s decision as “absolutely logical,” condemning the prolonged delay. “It’s clearly a decision to destroy a people and a nation. That is not acceptable,” he added.
