Al-Shabab Deputy Head in Mudug and Galgadud Regions Eliminated by Somali Army

Deploying Somali forces, with the support of local militia, resulted in the elimination of the deputy head of the al-Shabab group for the Mudug and Galgadud regions after an ambush in the Dumaye area on Friday night.

Information provided by government officials indicates that Mohamed Isaaq Aw-rage (Maradade), wanted by the Somali government for his terrorist acts, was among those killed. Another foreign leader and five militants were also neutralized during the operation while attempting to retrieve their weapons.

Despite this, the government chose not to disclose the name of the foreign militant leader killed during the attack.

“In these regions, where intelligence suggested the Khawarij had established a presence, prompting significant movement, this mission was executed,” stated an official.
