Collaborative Peace Efforts: Burundi’s ATMIS Contingent and Somali Security Forces Conduct Joint Patrols in Balcad District Amid Ramadan

Amidst the Ramadhan observance, African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) Burundi National Defence Forces (BNDF) troops, stationed at El Geelow FOB, alongside Somali Security Forces (SSF), conducted intensified joint patrols in Balcad district, Hirshabelle State.

Their objective: to bolster security in the area and thwart Al-Shabab attacks against civilians during this sacred month.

Under the leadership of Burundi contingent Commander Maj. Ntakarutimana Thierry and Somali Security Forces Capt. Hassan Ali, the operation also secured the Jowhar-Mogadishu Main Supply Route (MSR) in Middle Shabelle.

Recent activities have seen ATMIS peacekeeping troops and Somali Security Forces ramping up operations against the Al-Shabaab militant group, ensuring undisturbed Ramadan observance for local residents.

Pledging to persist in their efforts, the Burundi troops and Somali Security Forces commandant reaffirmed their commitment to heightening security patrols, aiming to eradicate Al-Shabab presence from their jurisdiction and uphold lasting peace and stability.
