Corruption Investigation in Somalia: Army Officers Held for Diverting Rations of US-Trained Danab Forces

The Somali government has detained several army officers for diverting rations intended for the US-trained Danab forces in Somalia.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense on Thursday, the Somali National Armed Forces reported the diversion of Danab rations within one of its units.

“The FGS takes these incidents seriously and has immediately launched an investigation, which resulted in the suspension and detention of officers within the ranks to ensure accountability and transparency. The Ministry of Defense notified the incident to its stakeholders and will share the outcomes of these investigations in due course.”

The officers detained have not been identified.

The statement also mentioned that the government will assume responsibility for the Danab rations from the US and is currently working closely with USG.
