Federal lawmakers and ministers call for peace in Mudug

Federal lawmakers and ministers want fighting to stop immediately after clashes between militias from southern Mudug in Galmudug and Galdogob district in Puntland.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, and the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Fardowso Osman Igal, represented the two communities at a meeting in Mogadishu to solve the problem.

They released a statement after the meeting, saying they urgently need peace. Another meeting is planned for next week, hosted by the Sa’ad community in Mogadishu.

The fighting is mainly because of a dispute over land, and several people have been killed in the recent clashes.
