Hirshabelle Leaders Meet to Plan Liberation of al-Shabab-Controlled Areas

Hirshabelle Regional State leader Ali Abdullahi Hussein Guudlawe held a meeting on Saturday in Jowhar with key officials to discuss strategies for liberating areas still under al-Shabab control. Attendees included the Minister of Security of Hirshabelle, the governor of the Middle Shabelle region, the commissioner of Jowhar district, and military forces.

Security officials updated President Guudlawe on the current security operations and military strategies aimed at defeating al-Shabab militants in the state. “You must increase your efforts in ensuring security and eliminating the Khawarij. I praise you because security is my number one priority. I instruct the officers of the Armed Forces to perform their duties seriously,” President Guudlawe said.

Last year, the Somali National Army, with support from local forces, liberated several strategic areas in the Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions. However, this year’s offensive has stalled due to setbacks faced by the security forces.

The meeting underscores the continued commitment of Hirshabelle leaders to restore security and stability in the region.
