Reports from residents indicate heavy clashes between Somali security forces and al-Shabab militants erupted in Daru Nimca village, located in the Middle Shabelle region, on Tuesday morning.
The confrontation ensued after militants initiated an attack, triggering significant explosions near an army base, followed by intense combat. Both sides suffered casualties, although precise figures remain undisclosed.
As of now, Somali government officials have refrained from making any statements regarding the ongoing fighting.
This incident follows an assault by the Islamist group al-Shabaab on Busley, a military base in the Lower Shabelle region, just two days prior. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 17 individuals, with several others sustaining injuries.
Among the casualties were seven Somali soldiers, including the base commander, while ten al-Shabaab fighters were also reported to have been killed during the skirmish.
