Police in Mogadishu have arrested a TikTok influencer named Hanad Abdirahman Mohamed Gariraye for posting inappropriate videos on social media.
The Banadir region police announced on Sunday that they had detained Gariraye at Hodan Police Station for breaking the country’s laws. They said legal action would be taken against anyone who breaks the law or community standards.
Gariraye’s arrest came after many Somalis were upset by videos of him wearing women’s clothes and dancing on social media.
This arrest follows the recent detention of Ugbaad Mohamud Abdi, also known as Ugbaad Aragsan, by police in Hargeisa. She was accused of sharing inappropriate videos.
