Somali Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre Commends Military Success in Jubbaland

On Wednesday, Somali Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre visited Jubbaland State to congratulate the Somali National Army (SNA) for their significant victory over al-Shabab militants, resulting in the deaths of over 80 insurgents.

Accompanied by Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe and senior army commanders, the visit underscored the government’s dedication to fighting terrorism and ensuring regional stability.

Barre lauded the troops for liberating key strategic locations, including Bula Haji, and announced monetary rewards for the Birjeh brigade, which played a crucial role in the operation.

“You have made the Somali people proud by defeating those who seek to harm our nation,” Barre stated.

Two weeks prior, al-Shabab militants attacked army bases in the Lower Jubba region. The Somali forces successfully repelled the assaults, neutralizing four car bombs. Videos released by Jubbaland officials displayed the bodies of militants in military attire, highlighting the battle’s intensity.

Prime Minister Barre emphasized the necessity of national unity and the Somali people’s support in the anti-terrorism efforts. Government representatives indicated that the visit symbolizes the Somali government’s broader initiative to secure the nation and foster regional peace and stability.
