Somali government forces, with support from international partners, conducted a successful operation in the Mudug region on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of at least 30 al-Shabab militants, according to government sources.
The Ministry of Information of the Federal Government announced in a press statement that the operation took place in the Arfuuda area, approximately 20 kilometers from the town of Harardhere.
The joint forces targeted two key centers during the operation: one used by the militant group for organizing attacks in the Mudug region, and another where they were preparing explosives.
This operation closely followed a thwarted al-Shabab attack by government forces in the Hawadley area of the Middle Shabelle region the previous day. This marks the third attempted attack by al-Shabaab in the Hawadley region, involving mine explosions and intense fighting.
