Somalia’s Council of Ministers Approves New Economic and Security Measures

The Council of Ministers of Somalia, led by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, has endorsed new legislative proposals focused on economic reform and fiscal transparency. These proposals encompass the Income Tax Law, the General Financial Management Regulatory Framework, the Debt Policy, and the Borrowing and Guarantee Issuance System.

The Ministry of Public Works presented an update on current and upcoming infrastructure projects. Road construction is underway in Garowe, Baidoa, and Kismayo, with future plans for roads in Beledweyne and Dhusamareeb. Additionally, Mogadishu is set to receive new drainage systems and sewage pipelines.

The Ministries of Internal Security and Defense provided an update on ongoing security operations. Recent military actions have targeted extremist groups in various regions, successfully clearing some areas of terrorist activity.
