**TURKSOM: Türkiye’s Largest Overseas Base**

TURKSOM, the Somali Turkish Task Force Command, stands as Türkiye’s largest overseas base. The strategic importance of this base has significantly increased following the signing of the “Defense and Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement” in February 2024.

Established on September 30, 2017, the base, also known as TURKSOM, provides training to Somali land, air, and naval forces personnel at the Anadolu Barracks.

Moreover, the support provided in counter-terrorism, at Somalia’s request, will be extended to maritime security, opening up opportunities for the Somali people to benefit from the sea’s wealth.
