Two Arrests Made After Somali Intelligence Prevents Hand Grenade Assault in Mogadishu

Somali security forces, under the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), apprehended two individuals affiliated with al-Shabab in Mogadishu on Sunday. The suspects were carrying hand grenades and were intercepted during a security operation.

According to a statement from NISA, the arrested individuals were attempting to deploy the hand grenades, although the specific target was not disclosed.

The NISA report emphasized the continuous efforts of the government’s security forces to safeguard the city, with support from Somali citizens. The suspects were apprehended by the military while in possession of explosives, indicating their intent to cause harm to the public.

The arrest follows another incident in Baidoa, where security forces detained an individual accused of throwing a hand grenade at a mosque in the town’s neighborhood on Saturday night.
